Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19th, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very young how to overcome of the difficulties she faced by using her rich and imaginative imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could read or write. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The following year, she made her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Her name was made for herself locally while still at high school, but wanted to perform on a larger stage. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. Her first charting records on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. The syndicated television show of Porter Wagoner was in need of an additional singer around this time. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed with RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974, when her solo hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene oversold her collaborations. The song by Parton, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), reached the No. #1 spot following their broke up. In 1974, Parton's song"I Will Always Love You" reached No.
